Who We Are

Champions for young adults aging out of foster care

Our organization was born from a simple truth: God placed in each of us a heart for the fatherless. That calling shaped our path long before we fully understood where it would lead. As a Christian-led nonprofit, our faith fuels our mission — yet we welcome and serve people of all beliefs, backgrounds, and walks of life. Anyone who cares about young people aging out of foster care has a place beside us.

For our founder, Bethany, and her husband, the journey started through adoption. Traveling to China to adopt their two children opened their eyes to the resilience and dignity of vulnerable children around the world. That experience deepened their compassion and set them on a path of It led them to serve locally, partnering with organizations that supported children who needed stability, encouragement, and someone to stand beside them.

In 2020, while volunteering with Congregations for Kids, Bethany and her husband learned about older teens aging out of foster care — many with no home, no support network, and nowhere to go. Some became homeless the day they turned eighteen. Others, even those in college, were displaced when dorms closed. These stories were heartbreaking and impossible to ignore. They revealed a gap that demanded action.

The scripture James 1:27 urges believers to care for the fatherless. For Bethany and her family, this wasn’t just a verse — it became a directive. They felt deeply called to respond, not only through awareness, but through tangible support and community.

Their calling echoed the well-known Starfish story: a young boy gently throwing stranded starfish back into the ocean, one at a time. When told he couldn’t possibly make a difference, he replied, “I made a difference for that one.” This story became a reminder that every single act of care matters. While no one can solve every need alone, together we can make a meaningful difference in the life of each young person we serve.

Why We Exist Today

We exist to ensure that no young person ages out of foster care without support. Our mission is to champion their resilience, strengthen their pathways, and walk beside them as they transition into adulthood. And while our faith anchors us, our community is open to all — because everyone can help “make a difference for that one.” We believe this is how we make an impact. We believe this is how we help others believe they are worthy and valued. And we believe this is work worth doing — together.
